The moment a loved one sends you hugz, your hugzly vibrates for 5 seconds, glows for 15 seconds and plays the voice memo (if your Kinection included a voice memo) each time. It glows the color you assigned the loved one in the hugzly app. When it glows and vibrates, you pick it up and give it a big hug so you can feel the hugz.

The unique combinations of light, vibration, soft plush, and instantaneous notification of a loved one thinking of you, truly makes a hugzly one-of-a-kind. When audio hugz are added, this experince is elevated with an incredible amount of love when you hear the sweet voice as you see the light and feel the vibrations.

IFAW is in over 40 countries and is one of the largest animal welfare and conservation charities in the world. IFAW played a leading role in ending the commercial seal hunt in Canada and commercial whaling. It helps dogs and cats in impoverished communities, protects rescues and releases wild animals in the wake of disasters. We’re proud to support their great work.

We are all humans and we all belong - hugzly reminds us that we are all loved, cherished, and connected even when we are alone. Cuddling with your hugzly when the heart glows with light hugz releases ‘feel good’ hormones that help improve our mood. Kodi is the first hugzly and is the much loved, endangered grizzly bear.

Kodi’s named after Kodiak Island, Alaska where the largest of the grizzly bears live and can grow up to 770 lbs (385 kg). They roam the uplands of western North America and despite fearsome claws and teeth, their shaggy appearance and appealing features make them popular world wide.

Grizzly bears are omnivores, eating mainly plants but also mammals, fish and berries. They help our ecosystem by dispensing seeds, fertilizing forests and helping control prey species. Grizzly bears have a sense of humor, are curious, compassionate and empathetic. The mothers fiercely love and bond with their cubs, feeding and protecting them for at least two years. But with global warming, the temperatures that signal it’s time to start denning are occurring later when normal food sources like fish and berries have gone for the year. This causes the grizzly bears to roam into towns in search for food. Humans can feel threatened and have become the leading cause of grizzly bear mortalities.

Nell is a hugzly and is a puppy version of the much-loved yellow Labrador Retriever. They are affectionately named ‘Labs’ and are believed to be the most popular dog breed in the world.

Nell is named after the Earl of Home’s dog, “Nell”, his 1857 photo being the first documented image of the breed. Labs are great swimmers, with a water-resistant slightly dry, oily undercoat and webbed toes.

As well as being affectionate, energetic and loyal pets, Labs work in search and rescue, hunting, assisting the disabled and tracking. Many Labs are heroes and the most decorated dog in the world was Endal. After his owner fell from his wheelchair, Endal fetched a blanket and covered his owner before racing to a nearby hotel for help!

Gwyn is a hugzly named after the original Welsh word for Penguin: Pen (head) and Gwyn (white).

With its orange head and tummy, it represents the brightest colored of all the penguins, the King Penguin.

King Penguins breed in sub-Antarctic islands, with the longest breeding cycle of all the penguin species lasting 14 to 16 months. They don’t build nests but stand upright and incubate the egg on the tops of their feet under a loose fold of abdominal skin called a brood patch. Both parents take turns incubating the egg, while the other finds food. The chick relies on its parents for survival until it grows its adult waterproof feathers that replace their fluffy brown juvenile down from birth. Once they have their waterproof feathers, they are smooth swimmers.

A King Penguin has a consistent swimming speed matching our world-best Olympic swimmers sprint of up to 6 miles per hours (10km per hour).

Great Grandma Anna is a widow living in a retirement home. She has 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren that live within five hours of her. They all have busy lives and she only gets visits on Sundays. She understands and is proud of all of her family, but she feels lonely on a daily basis. She doesn’t want to bother them or complain. One year ago, her health declined rapidly and while in the hospital, she was given a few weeks to live. Her granddaughter set up a hugzly for her with a color assigned to each grandchild. They all started sending her light and vibe hugz. Once she realized how much they all love her and she wasn’t a burden. She regained her strength and found her will to not only live but also thrive. Her hugzly reminds her that she is never alone even when no family is present. 

Amy loves being with her family and knows she is blessed with amazing grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. However, she lives five hours away from some of them and misses them dearly. Amy loves being able to send hugz with everyone in her family including her parents and can not get enough of hugzly. Her hugzly is her magical connection to those she loves most - oh and her best friend down the street!

Jules is living her dream life and works hard for it every day. She finds balancing work and home life can be a challenge, and she does it beautifully. Jules and her children have incorporated hugzly into their daily lives as another level of connection, especially during the random times she travels for work or goes out with some friends. She uses her phone to send hugz on the app and the kids know she is always loving on them.

Derek and Jules have an incredible sibling bond and view themselves as brother and sister even though they are actually half siblings. Their favorite time of the week is when they are together. It has always been hard on them when Jules spends half the week at her Dad’s house. Three months ago, their Mom gifted them both a hugzly so they can stay connected to one another even when they are falling asleep in separate homes. They are obsessed! They send at least five hugz to one another every night, including when they are down the hall from each other. They are also connected to their Mom, their Dads, cousins, and grandparents. It is safe to say that hugzly has made a huge impact on this sweet family.

Traveling has always been in Rachel’s blood. As she travels the world, her older siblings back home have gotten married and had children. She loves being “cool Aunt Rachel”. She visits a few times a year and on her last visit she gifted her five nieces and nephews a hugzly. She then set up her phone as a virtual hugzly and connected with each one of them. It has been wonderful for their relationships! She no longer needs to go through her siblings to send love to her nieces and nephews. They can communicate directly and the kids adore the freedom, especially when they are missing Aunt Rachel. The kids have also used hugzly to make Kinections with their friends and grandparents.

Karen fell in love and got married to a Canadian. They decided to live in the Vancouver area where they started their family. Karen has a full life and enjoys raising her children here, but she misses her family back in the Philippines. She gets to visit with them every few years, but with the time change it can be difficult to chat regularly. She uses her hugzly the most to send hugz back and forth to her cousins in the Philippines. They grew up together and miss the daily interactions. Each of them having a hugzly adds another layer of connection that fits into their busy lives.

Jim and Alice are both widows that each lost their partners over seven years ago. Neither thought they would date again or find another partner, but when Jim and Alice met, they had an instant connection. Dating was new territory for them, especially in their 60s. In February, they had been dating for six months when Valentine’s Day came around. They felt like teenagers again and were not quite sure how to handle the holiday. Jim heard about hugzly from a friend and decided to gift it to Alice as a Valentine’s Day gift instead of flowers or chocolate. It was the perfect choice! Leslie and Kristin have been best friends since they were 9 years old. They were next door neighbors their whole childhood, and then roommates in university. The hardest part of their friendship has been the last few years while they both have babies and young children. They do not have time to talk and sometimes there are no words, especially while Leslie suffers from post-partum depression. Leslie can feel the love and squeeze the hugzly with tears in her eyes and not feel so alone. Even with a heavy heart, she feels connected because of hugzly.
